Safety in the use of Abrasive Wheels:

The Abrasive Wheels Regulations 1970 , laid down the standard for the safe use of abrasive wheels. However these have been completely replaced by ,The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations. PUWER 1998. Under the 1970 regulations, courses were primarily designed for those member of staff handling and mounting wheels. Under PUWER Regs. plant operators, and those supervising or managing plant operators should be trained to a similar standard. A further requirement of the PUWER Regs. that all equipment must be suitable for its purpose, places even greater importance on correct wheel selection.
